The church is not only God’s design for gathering, but His design for belonging, protection, and mission. In Mark 10 and John 17, we are reminded that following Jesus comes with both promise and cost. While we gain the “hundredfold” in the church—a spiritual family—we also face the reality of loss, rejection, and even persecution for the sake of the gospel. Yet God does not leave us to walk alone. He gives us His people to sustain us and His Spirit to empower us. In this sermon, we see that the church is God’s means of protection and propagation—where we are strengthened together in love, and sent together in mission. As one body, we are called not only to believe the gospel, but to embody it, so that through our witness and our unity, the world may come to know Christ.
