Sin often promises sweetness, but what looks inviting can quietly wage war against our souls. In 1 Peter 2:11, we are urged as God’s people and as “sojourners and exiles” to abstain from the passions of the flesh—not because we earn God’s love by doing so, but because Christ has already loved us, forgiven us, and won the victory over sin. We abstain out of love and satisfaction, remembering who we are in Christ and choosing to live differently because we belong to Him.
