Resurrection Sunday

The greatest day in human history. Everything hinges on this moment.

Sin has finally been defeated. Death had been overcome. Victory assured.

Though they have heard many times from Jesus that “Son of Man must suffer many things…and be killed, and after three days rise again (Mark 8:31).” They weren’t prepared for what they were about to experience that day.

We have to realize that, for them, the past few days have been a rollercoaster ride. One day the crowds were shouting praises to Jesus as they would a king, the next they were screaming to execute Him as they would a criminal. They were all caught up in the whirlwind of events, one after another.

And now, here, we find the women—ever so faithful in their devotion to the Master —bringing spices “so that they might go and anoint Him.” But as they approach the tomb, they encounter something unexpected. An empty tomb and an angel bringing the news of their Lord’s resurrection.

Fear and doubt had reigned supreme. But now, finally, hope.

His resurrection brings a lot of implications to the believers’ faith and one of the biggest of these is that we have an eternal and blessed hope. And because we have this hope…

We can have assurance in Christ alone.

Because He lives, when we surrender to His rule over our lives, our faith is not vain. It is not futile. For centuries, the world has tried time and again to refute the truth of Christ’s resurrection. Countless conspiracy theories, rumors, and false teachings have come and gone. And yet, the church still stands. Christ is still king and ruler of all.

As the angel declares: “He has risen; he is not here” The tomb is empty and it is still empty today. And because of that…

We can trust that Jesus will be with us.

If you haven’t gotten it already…YES! He is risen! He is not in the tomb!

We have the assurance that He will be with us ‘till the end of the age. That’s His promise for those who repent of their sins, turn to Him, and acknowledge that He alone is our Savior and Lord. And because we know that His presence will always be with us…

We can face tomorrow without fear.

Our hope and confidence is not built on shaky and unstable ground. When we put our full trust and faith in the risen Lord, we know that our Savior is able to bear us up and give us His peace and His rest.

Not that pain and trouble will disappear. But we know that as we go through life, He will continue to sanctify us and transform us more and more into the likeness of His Son—the risen King.

Now that the hope of Christ’s resurrection has been made known to us, let’s check our hearts and ask: Are we living as though Jesus’ resurrection truly changes everything about our lives and future? What are some doubts and fears that we still hold to this day?
